Bringing Clean Water to Rural Nepal
Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet many communities in rural Nepal struggle daily with this basic necessity. Advance Community International is committed to changing this reality.
In 2025, we’re launching an ambitious project to build ten water pumps in rural Nepal, bringing clean, safe water directly to the people who need it most. Each pump costs $1,400 CAD and provides a sustainable water source for an entire neighbourhood.
We’re thrilled to announce the completion of our first water pump in 2025! Thanks to Michelle from Ontario, a pump has been installed and dedicated in honor of their daughter, Kendra.
Our approach goes beyond simply providing infrastructure. We prioritize:
- Local Employment: We hire skilled local laborers for construction, boosting the local economy and ensuring project sustainability. We are proud to hire local workers with expertise.
- Supporting Small Businesses: We source materials and services from local businesses, further strengthening the communities we serve.
The need
Poor water quality is one of the major environmental health issues facing Nepal. According to the Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) 2021, only 17% of the country’s population has access to a safely managed water supply system. We work far out in the rural areas – places that take days to drive to, but only an hour to fly to, far over the mountain paths and ravines. The Nepali people that have a water pump installed by ACI have previously been walking 3 or 4 hours every day to retrieve drinking water. These water pumps are received with much joy and thanks from the whole neighbourhood!
